Obedience to God's Word (Proverbs 24:27 LXX)

This time it was simply obedience to God's Word. I did not hear any voice, internal or external. I did not see any visions except in the last days of my leaving when everything was decided months before. But it was purely God's Word that spoke to my spirit several times. The verse in Proverbs in ch. 24,27 of the LXX reads thus: "Prepare your work for your departure". The Lord gave me eight months to prepare for my eventual departure from the Seminary where I served for one year. For 8 months after giving my notice of resignation I was preparing for my departure. The second part of the verse reads, "Be fully prepared for the field. Come behind Me and follow Me." I took this part of the verse to mean I have to be ready for the mission field, ready to suffer, take a big pay cut which I did when I accepted a call to pastor a church of wage earners, students and mothers whose husbands do not go to church. It is by faith that I took this up but so far so good. I have obeyed the Lord to follow behind Him. He is my leader and He is my Lord and God. Then the last part of the verse reads as follows: "Then you shall rebuild your house." I realised that my house that I bought 18 years ago needed much renovation with the original tiles coming up. On hindsight I should have replaced the tiles before I moved in way back in 2007.

My village house that my wife built in 2017 also needed much work. The old house that I built in 1992 needed a makeover and we just put a fence around the house so that animals or people just do not trespass into our little compound. There is much work to be done to the house. That last bit of the verse also speaks of spiritual restoration of God's house. There is restorative work to be done in the house of the Lord. There is little biblical knowledge though many hold the Bible dear but many nowadays do not read it enough and even if they read, they do not understand unless there is someone to teach them. I believe it will be my responsibility to preach and teach and hold seminars on the Bible. As everyone is busy with Christmas celebrations, our first council meeting is held next Wednesday when our celebrations conclude this coming Sunday. It will be a crucial meeting as I lay out the church's vision for next year and get every one on board to rebuild the tabernacle of David that had fallen and to repair its ruins.
