41,000 Words

I have surpassed 41,000 words for my commentary on John’s Gospel which is more than half the length of this book that I plan to write in the next two months. I am now into John 19 only three more chapters of commentary to go before a long appendix which I plan to write about the theology of John’s Gospel overall from ch.1 to ch.21.

Whatever I feel lacking in my first volume (223 pages) I will supplement and if I can find a good price for printing I will probably combine the two volumes into just one book and it is easier to sell I guess.

I will probably sell it for RM60.00 and give a RM10.0O discount who bought my first volume. As it will be more than 400 pages long, longer than my most recent book “Anak Panah” that has 330 pages but with about 40 pages of photos (so 290 pages writing which is still a lot).

During the farewell dinner last Sunday evening I received a text from a church member that he could not join me that night but wanted to buy all my six books. Unfortunately only five were available and I hope he gets the books by tomorrow’s Sunday service.

Writing is indeed a skill but knowledge of God’s Word is paramount. No one can write anything good unless he is skilled in Scripture and for that I am grateful to the Lord for giving me the capacity to understand, being filled with the Holy Spirit, with substantial ministry experience where the rubber rubs the road and not seated in a library somewhere on ivory’s tower.

Although there is much more bitter than sweet in the ministry that I had just left, yet bitter is the medicine that heals the body and soul and with that kind of experience I can now see even clearer than before the depths of human character and the deceitfulness of sin. John’s Gospel analyses all that, it tells us why people do things they do, the motivation behind it and many because they choose human glory, thus fall short of God’s glory and sin against the Lord.
