Tomorrow, God willing, I shall be leading a group of 15 members of the church to visit another church in a nearby District. It will be a culmination of almost 6 months of prayers, sharing the vision and confirming the visit, picking the team, rehearsals and the like. I shared the vision in the Leaders' Retreat that sometime this year we will connect with a nearby church in another District (within an hour's drive) and we hope to establish a sister church relationship. A week after sharing the vision in late January 2025, barely two months since I started my role as pastor, I met this church leader at a fast food restaurant near my house and after an exchange of greetings, he invited me and my church members to visit.
It was an answer to our prayers. In the same leaders' retreat, I also shared that after this sister church link up, we will venture farther afield within the State of Sabah. I mentioned a few places that I would love to lead a group to visit, including a place called Alutok, right down south of the State. Lo and behold, as I arrived back home from Sandakan's ministry a couple of weeks ago, I received a call from a pastor who invited me to Alutok to preach in two combined services of the four most remote churches in the south near the Sabah-Sarawak border. If I go, it would surely tick off one of the places in my bucket list, as I celebrated my 32nd birthday in Alutok, and a photo of me entering the village being greeted by the villagers is now the front page of both of my books, "Departure Points" (2020) and "Anak Panah" (2025).
