July is the Month

I am nearing surpassing 10,000 readers of my blog third month in a row. I have preached from East to West of Sabah from Sandakan to Tuaran and my own congregation in the north-east of Kota Kinabalu. July has been the month of many blessings. My son and his wife came back home from NZ unexpectedly and we have them for 3 weeks before they return to Auckland next Monday. My youngest brother also dropped by in KK and we had dinner and off he went to Australia his permanent home if he is not travelling to UK and Singapore.

Most crucially I conducted a mid year review of our praise and worship ministries with a 50 min talk over dinner before rehearsal on 12th July. The following Tuesday I wrote a long message, a summary of my talk on our Praise and Worship group. Whether all managed to get the message time will tell, but it is already bearing fruits with the song leader last Sunday asking the congregation to sing without the sound of music and it was beautiful, the voice of God’s people.

Despite several families and members returning to their villages we managed to have 112 adults and 31 children in attendance. The elder before the end of the service tuned into TikTok live stream of our service and he whispered a number that I thought I misheard until the next day I asked my son to check and it was over 20K likes. I was told that this number doubled that of the next church with the highest views or likes. I do not put much significance into this, though for seekers or those who can’t attend physically TikTok or Facebook live could be an alternative platform. It is at least better than nothing or doing something else on a Sunday.

The Tuaran trip also went without a hitch with 17 people on the team and the team performed outstandingly for God’s glory. I see that when David was in the wilderness about 400 people came to him and David made them into a mighty army. I pastored one of the smaller churches in town, in just one shop lot but it is not the size of the building that counts or even the count of heads but the size of the fight for God’s kingdom.
