Looking to God Alone

My life and ministry is a life of faith. In my recent book, "Anak Panah" ("Chosen Arrow"), my last chapter of the book tells of nine different life changing decisions I had had to make in the past 34 years, a few would have led to financial ruin if it were not the Lord's leading and His blessing that followed. Except for one year in a local interdenominational Seminary, I have served my denomination in Sabah, all these 24 years in all and counting.

I called my 6 years away from Sabah as my Singapore's sojourn, though granted Singapore Permanent Residence which I renounced in 2017, I never felt at home or could not find a home church all those six years. It was a story to be remembered, though friendship with various individuals in Singapore has kept my faith alive and now I see many of my former students taking up senior positions in churches throughout Singapore.

How I survived and still serving in the same denomination is a story in itself. Just four weeks ago, by invitation I went to preach two sessions, Saturday night and Sunday morning in one of the farthest villages in Sabah (5 hours' drive non-stop) and I had to break the trip in Tambunan (2 hours' drive from KK) and another four and a half hours the next day to reach the village. It was more than 29 years ago that I went into this village, perhaps preaching four or five sessions, which were normal during those days. Only a few older leaders remembered me as one generation goes and another generation arises.

I am praying for the next phase of my ministry. I might return to writing full-time or go somewhere overseas for a season just to take a break over a quarter of a century of mission work. The word, "furlough" is unknown to me, even when I waited for my next appointment several times in the past 11 years, I was always at work, producing 6 books in less than 6 years and it is only this year I could not do any writing with the pastorate occupying all my time and energy and that might be coming to an end soon, as the Lord leads.

    1. Thanks so much sister Cathie. Yesterday we had two more children dedicated to the Lord and about 5 families and their kids receiving their dedication certificates. For the children's sake, I might survive for a bit longer but everything is in the Lord's hand.
