Only one man found favour with God out of tens of thousands or millions living the days of Noah. Only Noah was said to be a righteous man, blameless in his generation and he walked with God. Perhaps it was the last clause that was the secret - Noah walked with God, in his communion with God, Noah knows this one righteous God who hates wickedness and anyone who claims to worship this one God should reflect His character, upright, blameless and righteous.
Likewise, the subject of my sermon topic tomorrow on "Zechariah" for our Men's Christmas, the final Christmas celebration after Women's, children's and whole church last Sunday. Zechariah is said to be a righteous man, blameless in walking in all God's commandments and requirements of the Lord (Luke 1:6).Today's age are the days of Noah. People are lawless and violent. They lie and practise falsehood. There is no more truth and there is no one righteous and blameless in your laws and commandments. Who is the zealous one? "The zeal for your house has consumed me" (John 2:17). I preached that last Sunday, but on Friday's prayer meeting, hardly anyone showed up, just to show much (or little) love they have for God's house. The chairman was there just to accompany the pastor who volunteered to lead the prayer meeting.
As soon as Moses ascended to the mountain, the Israelites started to rebel at the foot of the mountain. Soon Aaron who should know better was too weak to resist their demand to make a false god, for sure as an excuse to worship Yahweh. Just like now, they insist Santa Claus and all the manner of Santa dressing to be part of Christmas, and they give the excuse they are worshipping Jesus Christ. But there is no Jesus in all this falsehood, because He is a righteous God and we are called to reflect His character if we claim to worship Him. So as in the days of Noah, they marry and are given in marriage, they build houses for themselves and carry on all kinds of activities but there is no one righteous and there is no zeal for the Lord's house.
