It is Time to Speak

It's over two years since I resigned from my pastorate due to vaccine mandate. I have largely kept quiet since then, though last year from May to April of this year, I have not ceased preaching from church to church and from place to place. But it is now time to speak up. It is time to speak with clarity what besets the church and prays for the church's reformation. Yesterday, in my last 5 minutes of my 43 mins' sermon (about half of last week's sermon of 90mins), I read out the prophecy of Jeremiah 3:15-16 about God raising up of shepherds after His own heart who will pastor his flock with knowledge and understanding. At that time, the people will increase in the land. I told the congregation of about 300 people a story about the cultural revolution in China from 1966-1976. It was called a decade of chaos.

The youths of China were aroused to break with traditions and one of them was rebelling against seniors and intellectuals. Many Universities' Professors were sacked, humiliated and some were even tortured and paraded in the streets. So there was this drama that portrayed the times of Cultural revolution where a young woman went to a hospital to give birth. The nurses and doctors there were all young people, in their twenties or even teenagers. One professor, a specialist surgeon was humiliated with a sign over his head and no food was given to him. Then, the woman was to deliver the child but there were complications and bleeding. The young people could not stop the bleeding. They admitted that they were only students, first and second years students. In the midst of panic, they tried to call the specialist surgeon and professor but he slumped in his seat unconscious due to lack of food.

I told the congregation to never let this happen in the church. God will raise up shepherds with knowledge and understanding. We need to pray about how we train our pastors, and how we treat our senior pastors. At the end of the sermon, for the first time in almost two years, at least 10 members shook me hands and told me how blessed they were with the sermon. I went home joyful in the Lord that the Lord anointed His servant to speak forth His Word. It is time to speak up in the name of the Lord.
