I have not set myself any targets but relish in my bible readings since the New Year. Today I read about 15 chapters of the Bible more than my usual offering. I began with 1 Chr 28-29 on David's preparations for the Temple's building and in the evening I read 2 Chr 34-35 on Josiah's reforms. One word that struck me was the word, "seek" - Josiah began to seek the LORD. What does it mean to seek the Lord? Did not Josiah believe in the LORD like most Israelites?
Yes, belief and seeking are two separate things. Demons believe but they tremble knowing judgment is coming. But those who seek the Lord are those who are serious with Him, wanting to know His will and commandments and ready to obey God when His will is made known. But alas, how many Christians seek the Lord? Maybe they go to church or watch online services. When asked, they are not ashamed to call themselves, Christians? But how many really seek the Lord and wanting to do His will? My last verse which I gave my church group before I left was Matthew 7 where Jesus said, :"Many that day will call Me, Lord Lord but I will say to them - I never knew you!" How many really know Jesus? Spending time in fellowship with Him through His Word, worship and prayers. "Not everyone who says to Me, Lord Lord will enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in heaven." Those who seek the Lord seek to do His will in obedience and worship unto the Lord for He only is worthy of our devotion and our very lives.
