When I started about a month ago, I prayed to the Lord that I would finish the second volume of the commentary on John’s Gospel in 52 days, the time Nehemiah took to finish building the walls of Jerusalem. I have probably written for 21 days now with 31 days to go. If I write every day with the Lord’s help I might finish by Resurrection Sunday which would be amazing, God answering my prayers. In 21 days I had written 22,000 words, about 1,000 words a day which does not seem a lot.
I remember that I wrote my 3,000 word summary and conclusion to my PhD thesis in 3 or 4 hours. I still feel the chills and shivers when I think of those good old days when the fellowship of the Lord was over my tent. I remember during October 2002, three months before the deadline I was still about one third unfinished which was about 100 pages unwritten.Truly it was a miracle that by Jan 24th 2003, I could submit my 100,000 words dissertation with 50,000 footnotes to the doctoral examination committee at Otago University. And then, passed my PhD with the best grade ever, passed with minor editorial amendments which I completed in less than 2 weeks when I was already pastoring a church of about 200 people that grew to 450 in 5 years. But now into my 8th book, fifth in Malay, I am trusting the Lord again to help me finish in good time.
I was just commenting on why Mary, the mother of Jesus chose to live with John, Jesus’ beloved disciple and not with her other four sons and daughters. You have to be able to read in Malay to find out. I think the book will be amazing because amazing is the God whom I serve and write about. As I write I learn myself and gain much wisdom through the knowledge of God and His word.
