I did not expect that invitations to preach would come so quickly. In fact I told my youth, a young man of 15 years old asking, "Is writing your side hustle?" I told him that writing would be my main hustle and preaching and teaching will be my side hustle. Yesterday, I visited a church member's newly rented place. The couple has four children, all regularly attending church and when I was asked to come to pray for the family and house I could not refuse even though I had already resigned. But last night one leader's wife whom we met at the stairs told me in the hearing of 5 or 6 others: "Pastor, we miss you", it has only been two weeks since I stopped attending the church I pastored for 15 months.
Most of the leaders were present and I shared about 20 minutes from John 20 and 14 about the peace which Christ gives to us. I evangelised the husband and invited him to church and told him, not to be too bothered if he could not understand why Christians do things that we do like singing and listening to the preaching. It will take time by the Holy Spirit. We started at 7.20pm and ended just before 9pm. We reached home by 9.30pm full of joy and peace. As I walked out of the door of the rented place on the 1st floor, the youth leader reminded to attend church on Sunday 22nd March, with the church in Tuaran which we visited last July making a return visit. I told him I would be in Tamparuli the day before on a Saturday afternoon but should be back by evening to KK and I hope I could make it to my former church on the Sunday. That would be my final act, my last appearance in the church I pastored for a whole of 15 months.
But I received an invitation to preach last night for this Sunday morning service at the church I attended last Sunday. It was amazing how the Lord opened doors. This is the city centre church that I worshipped at for nearly 2 years before taking up the most recent pastorate. I was welcomed by the senior pastor and by the emcee and later I told the leaders who spoke with me, four or five of them that I would be returning here to worship until my next move.
Tomorrow I shall be speaking at a former Assemblyman's house who served 5 years as the mayor of Kota Kinabalu, a prominent community leader. He is a good friend who came four or five times visiting my former church and every time he and his wife came the church income increased by more than RM1,000 for the month. I was told in his last visit that he donated to the church another RM1,000 for the farewell dinner to enable more church members to attend, those who couldn't afford the RM48.00 costs per person. No wonder there were four tables instead of two that night. May God's Name be praised and those who support Your servant see many good days.
