After Monday

Monday, being a rest day is also a stressful day as a jammed weekend ministry can easily boil over to Tuesday before one regains one's bearings. It was like that for me in the past weekend. I went to bed last night tired, but praise be to God that I had a good night's sleep before getting up before 5am. It is rare that I can sleep until 6am nowadays. As I feel refreshed, Tuesday is the day that I could run some personal or family's errands like going out with my wife for shopping and stuff. It is one reason that I don't like council meetings on the Tuesday nights because I had to rush home to rest and often would not get enough done before being occupied by church work.

Before going for the church meeting tonight, I will go through the child's dedication certificate as we want to make it proper and meaningful for parents concerned and also for the child if he or she is old enough to understand what happens through the dedication ceremony. In fact, two parents ask whether they can present their 10 or 11 year old for dedication. I would not refuse anyone but 12 is the upper limit as they prepare for water baptism when they are about to reach 12 years old.

This morning I already went over the several passages of Scripture upon which the sermon is based for Sunday service. Tomorrow I will start in earnest to prepare for 3 sessions of a homiletics seminar (how to prepare sermons and how to preach). It is a most difficult topic as I believe it is a gift from God and those who are gifted do not need much training except the growth in God's Word and the mastery of Scripture. If one walks close with the Lord, one knows the mind of Christ and is an effective minister of His Word.
