John Wesley said he would preach as if it were his last sermon. And he preached for more than 50 years. I now take the approach that my ministry can end anytime and I will serve as if there is no tomorrow. There is no plan B but I know if one door closes the Lord will open another. There is no reason to flog a dead horse. Anyhow I was invigorated last Sunday as we prayed for 10 or 11 children dedicated by 9 couples.
I had a sense of elation knowing the congregation is responding to what the pastor wants to do. On the way back from praying for a relative of a church few days ago a deaconess mentioned to me that she appreciated the ministry I was doing. Before she said it was just lax and now there is integrity and seriousness in what we do.I need to keep pressing on and tonight I am speaking at a cell group and there could be as many 20 people attending. I pray that I speak with power and conviction of the Holy Spirit. Then on Friday I shall be on my way at least on the first leg of a 5 hours’ drive into a village I preached in 29 years ago. Then on Saturday noon I plan to drive another 3.5 hours and I hope to reach there at around 4.30pm to have an hour’s rest before dinner and night’s service. Thankfully there are two sessions compared to last time five or six sessions over the weekend from Friday night to Sunday night. I expect a crowd but nowadays we do not know how many church members will turn up as post pandemic many people do not go to church even within a short walk from heir village homes. We need a revival and a restoration from the Lord.
