Today at noon I slept like a log. I got up at 2pm for my lunch and now preparing for a day-long seminar in Kota Belud this Saturday. I had had one of the busiest weekends imaginable. After Friday night prayer meeting, I got up early on Saturday to go to our pastors' fellowship 18kms away. My house is far from the district within which my local church is located so most of our pastors in that district live in the East of the City while I am in the West side. But preaching 35 minutes to my fellow pastors took some energy and then a formal meeting followed by lunch fellowship. I did not reach home until 2.30pm after a 4am start. I rested for a little while and went to church again for the worship rehearsal at night. I felt I needed to and I was glad I did as I had to offer advice how to improve the lyrics of the songs (write proper Malay) and also train the reader how to read the biblical passage for Scripture reading.
On Sunday it went well but when I reached the pulpit I was already tired and I rested for a moment at the side of the pulpit and started to speak slowly as if to conserve energy. I felt better as I went along and I ended the sermon with vigour so much so a church member came up all the way to the pulpit after service and told me that I was on fire today. If only the church members knew how tired the pastor was. After service, I stayed on for another 20 minutes to give briefing to church members who asked for their young children to be prayed for and dedicated to the Lord. After that I had an appointment with a church member but I felt so tired that I had to postpone the meeting to next Sunday with the excuse that I needed to prepare for a baptism ceremony. It was good that the baptismal pool was near my house and we conducted in less than 40 minutes and by 2pm, 18 of our entourage dropped by my house as the elder since I started wanted to know I lived. It was wonderful fellowship and they left at 3.20pm and by 4.30pm I slept a little and got up at 6pm to go out for dinner. I do not remember a more hectic weekend but praise be to God, after resting early this afternoon I am back on my feet and ready for the next assignment.
