Church & Vision

As long as I have been active in church, I have always regarded my church as my family. The sense of community must be present if it is true church as many social clubs and institutions also put much emphasis on community, a sense of belonging, Last night it was quite unusual for about 40 people turned up for a Friday night and it was mainly due a a thanksgiving dinner we had before the prayer meeting. I was at church by 5pm having driven from home at 4pm to escape the peak hours after 4pm. It was my turn to preach and lead prayers and I shared from Psalm 45:4-8 about the warrior riding on a horse going out conquering with truth, meekness and righteousness.

I told the gathered not to lose hope in Sabah and also the state of the church overall losing members in the past 20 years. I told them if we were like the warrior of Psalm 45 we will win and bring about change in society. I told them two periods in church history when the early church conquered the Roman world with the gospel as leading men of the church exhibited such strength and love in midst of great adversity and opposition. Then I shared that after 1,000 years of darkness a few leading men like Luther and Calvin brought revival to Europe. I told them that the Geneva academy to train pastors in its 2nd year already drawing a thousand plus students and these trained clergy went about reviving churches throughout Europe. Then I shared from Proverbs 29:18 about the church needing a vision without which the people will dwell aimlessly. I shared my vision for Borneo first starting with a church in Sabah, then in 2026 in Sarawak and in 2027 in Kalimantan, in the new capital of Indonesia, Nusantara. It is almost a perfect triangle between three capital cities with flight of about 75 minutes each way. I told them to start saving up for our Kalimantan mission trip.
