First Sunday 2025 Lord's Supper

I could not have wished for a better start to the New Year. The church hall was packed into a small one unit shop lot. On the second floor which the church also rented, 25 kids followed Sunday School. The worship went for 35 minutes which was fine and I preached close to one hour, the first 15 minutes about the New Year and resolutions and plans for the church, then I launched into my main message about the Lord's Supper as I expounded 1 Cor 11:17-34. When the closing prayer was said, I looked at my watch and it was 11am sharp exactly 2 hours had run for our first Sunday of 2025. Then one elder and I moved to the back of the church to greet the church members leaving the church hall and I shook with about 100 of them, as 20 worshippers had already made their way downstairs as I stood near the entrance.

What really gladdened my heart were happy faces and many more were women (70%) and the men making up only 30%. There are many single mothers who come to church with their husbands not believers or did not want to attend church for one reason or another. Even young women outnumbered the young men by the same percentage. But it was heartening to see a few more young men yesterday.

Our new visitors from Indonesia did not come yesterday or else it would even be more packed. Maybe they were at work and somewhat at the mercy of their bosses. I took 10 of them to lunch the Sunday before and I had a great time hearing their stories and the places where they came from. As for me, now I have to seek the Lord's mind as I shall start a preaching series on a biblical book. As we are holding an End-time, Revelation's Seminar late June, I may choose the book of Daniel but I will take at least another week to make up my mind according to the Lord's guidance. There was much conviction of God's Word and joy was evident as people understood His Word and Will for their lives and the life of the church. "Lord, remember me for good. You know how I have served You and Your church, Your people."
