I have not seen a greater political comeback since I got interested in world politics during the President Carter's election bid in 1976 than in Trump's triumph in last November's US Presidential Election. I am not sure I can stay up to 1am 21st Jan Malaysian time to witness Trump's taking of the oath of office. By all accounts he was out and down for more than 2 years prior to the Nov election. He was shot once and the second time was a close shave as well. He spent half his time in courts fencing off multiple civil and criminal trials. He was convicted and now has the infamy of being the first convicted felon to hold the highest office in the United States of America. But I was backing Trump all along. I am a non-political person just as I was backing Obama, at least in his first term. When I listened to Trump's speeches, he made sense to a far away foreigner like me, and for sure he made a lot of sense to his fellow Americans.
When I listened to his challenger, after 5 minutes I was turned off, frankly did not know what she was trying to convey. Speech and communication are powerful tools. I am in the same business (the Father's business) for over 30 years. I speak plainly and people who listened understand what I am trying to say, whether they agree with me or not. I preach simple messages in simple Malay, but powerful to touch hearts and minds. In one sermon averaging 50 minutes (yesterday's sermon was 45 minutes but the week before a bit over 50 minutes) I would touch on many issues though focus on one theme with several main points. Yesterday I spoke about what God desired in worship.Returning to Trump's triumph, I had a measure of encouragement from it. In all accounts, I am down and out, though I may be celebrated by my own church (the hall can't hold all who wish to come as yesterday saw for the first time, seats taken outside the door and three or four youths watched via Tik Tok live). The majority of my big tent church ignores me, but I guess it is for their ruin, not mine. I told my former church that it was to their loss that they let me go during the pandemic since I had served faithfully for almost two years but yet due to some man-made rules of vaccination I was forced out. I remember well how four or five years ago, the Lord spoke through the Saul-Samuel narrative and how Samuel despite living just a few miles from Saul's city, the prophet Samuel was never consulted or visited by King Saul. It was only when Samuel was sent to speak to Saul that they last met, and that was the beginning of the end of Saul as far as the biblical narrative is concerned. I see Trump's victory as coming against all odds and if there is justice in this world, I believe there will be divine reckoning for sure and it will be well for the righteous.
