Preaching is tiring work. You plough the hearts of men with God's Word, sharpened by the Holy Spirit cutting deep into the hearts and it accomplishes the work of God in men's lives and hearts. But the preacher is often wasted. I did not preach a long message barely 40 minutes, but throughout yesterday I felt like a boxer knocked out cold and slept for hours during the day. Maybe I did not sleep well on Sunday night which is normal as the anointing is still strong and effect of the preaching is still wearing off but it hits you early Monday morning and only until this morning I was awakened afresh like one raised from the dead.
No one wants to be preacher, a true preacher of God's Word is fearless before men because he only fears God and does whatever the Lord tells him to say not a word more not a word less. No one wants to be preacher with hardly any financial remuneration, but only one or two will thank you but the vast majority will keep quiet perhaps thinking that all you did was talk for 40 minutes and they could not wait until the sermons ends so that they could fill their stomachs and do whatever pleases them as they leave the church hall. Even after preaching during lunch fellowship I have to be at the top of my game, speaking only when asked or really needed to advise or inform those who have less understanding. Often times people think they know but they really do not know as much as they think they do. It is always good to be humble before the Lord for He knows the proud from afar and He dwells with the contrite in spirit.I suppose my weariness is also due to the 20 days of non-stop editing and revising my book for publication which ended only last Wednesday with news that my printers would start printing last Thursday and I hope to hear from them soon, by end of the week. Then, I have another sermon to make this Sunday and the next Sunday. If I had accepted the invitation in the first week of Dec, it would have been 8th in a row which is simply too much. So this year, God willing I will do seven in a row before a week's break and then two more Christmas invitations, one in KK and one in Keningau, God willing.
