God who gives Growth

When the church is not growing there is something wrong. Early October I told my elder that things were not doing well, if the current leadership structure was in place. I was coming to a year of ministry, and I sensed many things were going backward. Our 10th anniversary supposedly a highlight of the church's calendar was organised haphazardly, practically in the last week before I knew what was going on. I asked twice for the e-poster to be made and sent to me at least one month before the anniversary but there was no action.

I wanted to invite VVIP but at the end I decided not to invite anyone lest people be offended if only given a few days' notice. The worst I sensed is that there was no urgency and no sense of getting things done. When the numbers stagnate and last Sunday we had barely 100 adults when the weeks before we were averaging 120 adults which would be really full. 100 is just comfortable in one shop lot.

The giving or church income also was stagnant and I told my leader in the middle of last year that two of my first two churches' finances grew significantly in the first year. Even in my third church during the pandemic when we heard of closure of churches, pastors' salaries getting cut, the church I led grew in finances. After two years, it trebled just like in my first church, it grew 4-fold in 5 years. At the end, it came down to this current place's refusal to heed their pastor. However polite or nice one would want to put it, it is as clear as noon daylight what was causing the stagnation, but some people prefer it that way. There is no desire for reform or change. They have drunk the old wine, and said it was good.
