21 Ringgit Left

Yesterday when I went out of a Mall’s carpark my debit card was rejected for insufficient funds. Today I banked in RM200.00 as I normally used the card for small disbursements like car park fees. What if I did not have any money in my other accounts? I realized in my life that for nearly 40 years now, I lived by faith. In 1991 I did not know if I could survive keeping my law firm running as business was bad. Even in those bad times, I managed to pay the salaries of my two workers, rent for office and house and car loan. I never owed any money that I could not repay in time.

Now in ministry starting with RM700.00 in 1994-1995 and then RM1,000 per month while raising hundreds of thousand ringgit and managing millions including 10 to 20 church projects at the same time every year for three years.

In Sabah, the only time I earned a respectable salary was my one year at a local Seminary which I could not leave quick enough, and returned five months later to pastor a SIB that paid 40% of the Seminary’s salary.

Early this year I took a step of faith once more feeling hemmed in with little room for growth. But God is good. I can’t describe His goodness but only to thank and praise His glorious Name.

I was finishing my commentary barely a month ago on John’s Gospel that Jesus cared much for His disciples’ physical and earthly needs. He brought fish and bread to feed them on the beach. He commanded them to lower their nets on the right and the many fish caught were brought up the shore and a few were eaten on the spot and the rest sold perhaps for a little fortune to help them managed their households when the church in Jerusalem was founded and cared for. How amazing is our Lord.

No knowing or wanting to flatter people even in church, often times it takes forever for a ministry opportunity to come up but I will trust in the Lord and not in princes. Kyrie Eleison!
