5 Sermons to Go

Yesterday, I preached my first sermon of six at a home group. It was not a long sermon, just about 15 minutes, but impactful. I talked about Paul claiming Roman citizenship when he was about to be whipped by a Roman soldier. I took that Paul knew his citizenship rights and I applied that to our rights and responsibilities as a citizen to vote and affect change for the better in our State and country. The State Election is just under a month away. I also spoke about the victory of Sabah Law Association's claim against the Federal government of Sabah's 40% entitlement. I even placarded a copy of the Federal Constitution and told them I taught to my students at the SIB College, two years running, 2017-2018.

Then I quoted Paul again in 2 Tim 2 about the Word of God not being in chain despite Paul's incarceration on a number of occasions but the gospel of Jesus Christ was still preached even in jail and many people were converted. I told my home group that our circumstances could not be worse than what Paul experienced and I could sense all those present were touched by the Word of God last night. It took place in the family of the young couple whom I officiated their wedding in a faraway village but both newly wedded are based in Kota Kinabalu and are active members of the church. We had wonderful and sweet fellowship lasting until 9.30pm.

Now I have five more sermons to prepare. All new and different as I don't repeat my sermons. I don't even keep notes though I would have used up a few notebooks each year. On Saturday I shall be preaching before my fellow pastors and their families in our pastors' fellowship Christmas gathering and hosting church should have 60 other members present making a total close to 100 expected worshippers.

On Sunday I shall be preaching in church which I missed twice already, a fortnight ago in Kapulu and preached in Pekan Tenom and last Sunday I preached in the youth meeting and taught Sunday school for 35 minutes on the life of Moses.

I can't remember the last Sunday that I sat down without doing anything. The following week which is 8 days' away I am travelling into another faraway village about the same distance away from Kapulu but to the East Coast, about 4.5 hours' drive from Kota Kinabalu. I am taking a series of three revival meetings. This district is close to my heart as they invited me from last year when I just started my ministry at my current church, so I had to decline but this time, God willing, I shall be there standing and preaching God's Word to His people.
