I preached a powerful sermon last night lasting about 10 minutes. I read from the Gospel of Luke ch. 24 where Jesus after His resurrection spoke of the the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms as being fulfilled in Him. Then, Luke wrote that Jesus opened their minds to understand the Scripture.
I related that to my sermon 12 days ago about the Feast of Tabernacles and of how Passover and Pentecost are feasts that were fulfilled in Christ and that the Feast of Tabernacles remains unfulfilled and therefore is prophetic of Jesus’ second coming.I told the 12 people gathered last night in the prayer meeting to always seek understanding of the Bible from the Lord because it is the Lord through His Spirit that will open our hearts to understand His Words. Then I explained the second point of my message about Jesus asking His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they are filled with power from on high, which is the coming of the Holy Spirit.
I lamented the fact that the church is increasingly powerless, losing members left right and centre and I told of my recent trip in a faraway town where two other denominations’ grounds were filled with cars and people while our Church just one hundred yards away were sparse.
Are you living in an age that so called servants of Christ, pastors and elders lack power, the power of the Holy Spirit? I related a conversation I had with a few pastors a year or so ago that they were more concerned with chasing after academic credentials, Masters and Doctorates (fakes mostly) but I doubt the churches they pastor experience any growth.
At least the numbers of the church I pastor show a slight increase but is hampered by lack of space and several times already we had our one shop lot unit filled with more than 130 adults, and 40 plus children. Even on major holidays or long weekend when many church members return home, we had never gone down below 80 adults except on one occasion when I first started 10 months ago.
So Friday night’s sermons are more powerful as those who come for prayer meetings are the faithful ones and they deserve solid food and I can speak even more frank than on Sunday services streamed live over facebook and tiktok.
